Florists Who Bloom Year Round

If you're planning a wedding, event, or just want fresher flowers in your life, the DMV region has a surprisingly rich bench of independent florists — from tree-farm-backed studios to tiny stone shops in historic districts. Here are four worth a look.

Sophie Felts Floral Co.

Based in Gaithersburg, MD, with a dedicated tree farm and design studio, Sophie Felts Floral Co. specializes in upscale, nature-inspired wedding and event florals across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Founder Sophie and her team source unusual and heirloom blooms, and rare foliage and blooming branches come from their own sister tree farm, Ruppert Nurseries at Daphne Hill — giving their large-scale installations real structural drama. This is a full-service, high-end studio; their published minimum investment for wedding florals is $15,000.

Walking Wind Farm & Florist

Owned by Jessica Wysopal since 2016, Walking Wind Farm is a working flower farm in Augusta, WV that grows more than 200 varieties of seasonal cut flowers. The farm sells fresh bouquets at Northern Virginia farmers markets (Berryville, Upperville, Alexandria) throughout the growing season, and also runs an event florist arm handling weddings in the Frederick, Clarke, and northern Loudoun County areas. They've since added a weekly flower subscription with home delivery to select Alexandria zip codes — a nice way to get farm-fresh, field-cut blooms without a farmers market trip.

Falling Run Flowers & Design

Falling Run is a naturally grown micro flower farm and floral design studio in Yellow Spring, WV, just outside Winchester on the VA/WV border. Their blooms are grown without pesticides or industrial fertilizer, and the shop handles everything from luxury weddings to sympathy arrangements, serving Northern Virginia, DC, and the Shenandoah Valley (with destination events further afield). It's a good pick if you want that farm-grown, unmanicured wildflower look for a wedding or event.

Gott Efni

Tucked into Ellicott City, MD, Gott Efni started in 2020 as a 200-square-foot shop in a stone "Hobbit House" building on Main Street and has since grown into a larger studio space. Owner Anna Kim trained in floral design after emigrating from South Korea and brings a distinct aesthetic — earthy tones, vintage textures, and a whimsical, storybook feel — to everything from everyday arrangements to wedding work. They've also opened Gott Haus, an intimate event venue, as the business has expanded.

Little River Flower

Little River Flower brings an organic, whimsical touch to event florals across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia region. The shop leans into loose, garden-inspired arrangements with a natural, unstructured feel — a good fit for couples and clients who want their florals to look gathered from a meadow rather than assembled in a studio. Little River Flower works across the DMV for weddings and events and can be reached directly through Instagram

Whether you want a full destination-wedding production or a single farm-fresh bouquet, these options cover a lot of ground — literally, from Ellicott City to the West Virginia foothills.
